For its first residency, 1872 Maison d’Artistes invited eight artists from two collectives : Lx.One (France), Augustine Kofie (USA), Carlos Mare (USA) & Remi Rough (UK) from AOC (Agents of Change), and Stéphane Carricondo (France), Romain Froquet (France), Théo Lopez (France-Spain) and Clément Laurentin (France) from 9th Concept. From May 23 to 29, 2022, they worked in pairs on the blockhouses at Gurp Beach in Grayan et l’Hôpital, part of the old Atlantic Wall. They have honored the humanistic values of sharing, collaboration, transmission, history and memory in one immense collective on-site creation. In a brotherly manner, much like that of the D-Day liberators, they came from the United States, England, and France to express their messages of peace and solidarity on these vestiges of war.
