Blue Carbon

Alex Bloc alias LX.one creates for Surfrider as part of “Blue Carbon” exhibition,3 cubic structures, each representing one of the blue carbon marine ecosystems (seagrass, salt marshes and mangrove), actor in the sequestration and storage of CO2 in the aquatic and coastal environment . Beyond just being carbon sinks, what makes them interesting is a whole set of ecosystem services provided to human societies and more broadly the environment(reservoir of biodiversity, protection against submersion waves, against marine erosion, improvement of water quality, etc.) The rigid white cubic structure represents the strength of the ecosystem. Its content, reactive to its environment, symbolizes the plant organisms that compose it. These 3 optical and kinetic structures describe the riches and fragilities of these ecosystems, essential players in the mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
